Active Directory
It has a database which contains the information about users, groups, services and resources which is considered as a Centralized Repository. All these things which are defined in one database is known as a Object. Active directory domain service provides authentication service in a network. When you login in any enterprise and if that network is using Microsoft, then client sends Login request to server and server checks whether the client credentials are matching with those credentials which are entered in Active Directory database. If the credentials gets matched, then server provides specific rights and permissions to the client so that he can able to access the resources.
Benefits:-
1) Structure is organized in a hierarchical way. → For eg, You will have a Forest / Domain level. Inside forest level, there will be a different number of OU. And inside OU, there will be a lot of users. Then we need to apply polices, rights and permission to given users.
2) We can modify the Active Directory using admin credentials at anywhere.
3) Users can able to access organization resources in different ways.
4) If you have a file server, mail server in your network then we don’t need to login on each of the servers. We have a feature called single point of network to access the resources.
